Sept 27 (FLS): In a major anti-naxal operation launched by the combined effort of security forces of Jharkhand and Orissa, 12 Maoists have been reported to be killed as per report of the top police officials.
The operation began on Saturday in Saranda forests of Jharkhand in which three Jawans have been killed so far. As per statement of Jharkhand Director General of Police Neyaz Ahmed, it is confirmed that 10 to 12 Maoists have been killed since Saturday as some Maoists bodies have been found.
CRPF D.I.G Bhanu Pratap Singh said that the Maoists blew up a hostel and Panchyat Bhawan at Anandpur where the security personnel had camped nearly two months ago. He further reported that the Maoists also triggered three landmine blasts in the Tirilposhi jungle this morning.
Sources have also reported that yesterday, two policemen and an ultra were killed while an Assistant Commandant of CRPF injured in the fierce gun-battle going on in the jungle.
It was also reported that the encounter operation was massive as two helicopters, CRPF personnel, CoBRA personnel, state armed police and district police together with security men of neighbouring Orissa had taken part in the operations.
Till now the security personnel smashed two training camps, a bunker and have seized two weapons and five grenades. The search operation is still on and is likely to continue for today.
