The 34th National Games kick started today evening amidst the presence of high dignitaries of sports and political leaders of state in the capital city of Jharkhand, Ranchi. Birsa Munda Athletics stadium saw a spectacular opening of the game which finally commenced after a long delay.
As per report of the sources, the stadium was packed long before the commencement of the opening ceremony and people were waiting in queue at the gates to get the entry with great excitement.
The opening ceremony began with the National Anthem and Governor Farook graced the occasion by inaugurating it. While addressing the people of the state, he looked overjoyed and called this day as the red letter day in the history of Jharkhand state.
Immediately after the National Anthem, the participating teams introduced themselves through March past led by the services contingent. Amidst 28 states and 5 union territories, the national team’s contingent got the thunderous welcome by the home crowd.
As per estimation, nearly 25000 spectators were there in the stadium to cheer the players.
The best moment was showering of rose petals after the governor’s arrival by a plane hovering over the stadium.
Other dignitaries present on the occasion included Chief Minister Arjun Munda, Indian Olympic Association president Suresh Kalmadi, former chief minister Shibu Soren and Jharkhand Olympic Association president R.K. Anand.Share
