Oct 10 (FLS): Four Victorian Police officers have been sued after a racist email has been tracked in which they were reported to mock about the electrocution in India.15 other policemen are going to front the disciplinary action today who were also reportedly involved in the circulation of the controversial email.
The email allegedly shows an Indian man being electrocuted on a train, with a comment suggesting it could “be a way to fix the Indian student problem” in Melbourne.
While four have been sacked, one has been demoted and other five have been fined up to 3000 dollars and placed on the 12 month good behaviour bonds for their alleged involvement in the case.
The racial email scandal took place yesterday in Melbourne and as per report of the sources the emails after probe by Ethical Standards Department’s Operation Barrot was reported to contain pornographic, homophobic, racist and violent material.
Australia is definitely concerned about the latest controversial issue and it fears that this malicious act of its officers could end up business relations between India. They are also concerned about the image of the country and the multi-billion international education industry which may be hit by this incident.
Victoria police had said that it would resume disciplinary hearings this week into the circulation of pornographic and racist emails within the force.
State Chief Commissioner Simon Overland and Premier John Brumby had condemned the actions of the police involved.
The Australian High Commissioner to India has condemned the email, and Victoria’s Police Chief Commissioner says the officers involved will be dealt with harshly.
