On Wednesday, the country’s biggest car maker by sales unveiled new model of its best selling car Alto at an initial sales price between Rs 3.03 lakh and Rs 3.16 lakh, ex-showroom Delhi.
Alto-K10, the new alto version is powered by a one litre engine from the company’s latest generation K-series engines.
Maruti Suzuki India (MSI) Managing Director and CEO Shinzo Nakanishi spoke to media reporters in Delhi “The Alto’s package of performance, fuel efficiency and attractive cost of ownership have together made it India’s most popular car. The Alto-K10 will take this forward”.
Maruti said the existing Alto car makes average sales of over 20,000 units every month and is the largest selling car in India. The company expects the Alto K10 to contribute additional volumes of 30 per cent in the existing Alto series. With its launch the company is aiming to improve the market share of Alto in urban areas.
Maruti claims the Alto K10 returns a mileage of 20.2 Kmpl under standard conditions which is slightly better than the current Alto.
However, the consumers will now have two options to choose from – the existing Alto with 800 cc engine apart from the new Alto K10 with 1000 cc engine.
