Army Caption burnt alive during exercise

On May 5th, a fire broke out in a tent where a military exercise was in progress in the Miani Bhagupurian village. Captain Anand and Major Sudhir were sleeping in the tent when the said fire broke out. Captain Anand from Coimbatore was burnt alive in the fire whereas Major Sudhir was seriously injured.

The high velocity of the wind caused the two army men trap inside the tent when the fire broke out. Police suspect that the mosquito repellent coil which was burning inside the tent might have caused the fire. Captain Anand was burnt alive and dead on the spot while Major Sudhir was admitted to a hospital in Tabri. Major Sudhir was seriously injured but according to hospital officials, he is now safe.

The whole tent and all the things inside the same were burnt down to ashes. The Army exercise was underway for 48 hours in Mand area of the Miani Bhagupurian village.

The Army refuses to register a case with the police saying it is an accident and no one is responsible for it. Police has sent the body of Captain Anand for post mortem in Kapurthala civil hospital.
