Entire minister panel is busy persuading rain God to stop the rain as the fourth deadline proposed by the government for the completion of the venues of the Commonwealth Games 2010 has once again failed and the project is likely not going to be completed by 31st August.

This was the fourth time that government extended the deadline to 31st August as the date for the completion of construction work, installation of technology and communication works so that the Organizing Committee could began the testing task. Now, the government is left with no choice but to extend the deadline for the fifth time.

Even the government’s Group of Ministers who were supervising the games progress are trying to save them by blaming the entire delay on the continuous rainfall. Mr. Jaipal Reddy , Head of Group of Ministers told that the schedule was not met strictly and was delayed by couple of days because of consistent heavy rainfall and the delay in the delivery of the containers.

Even Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit showed her apathy for mess caused by rain as well as her increasing worry on the issue by refusing another deadline to the organizing committee after the inspection of the Indira Gandhi indoor stadium which will host the gymnastic events.

As per sources, in two weeks, 700 international athletes and officials will arrive in the Capital and there is such a rumour that many of the apartments still don’t have electrical fittings. At the SP Mukherjee Swimming complex in Central Delhi, basics like tiles and cables are still missing.

It seems that last minute finishing tasks will be a rushing affair as Security cameras, metal detectors and other surveillance equipment are yet to be installed.

The Commonwealth Games 2010 is scheduled to be held from 3rd-14th October in New Delhi.
