Oct 25 (FLS): On Sunday BCCI refuted the alleged claims of SLC regarding the link of Suresh Raina with a women bookmaker after an English newspaper “The Sunday” published claiming that an investigation was being made by ICC’s ACSU on BCCI in this regard.

Reportedly, the article says the Indian batsman Suresh Raina was seen in a company of woman for more than one night when he was on Sri Lanka tour. Sources have claimed that the woman with the Suresh Raina was seen in company allegedly was an associate of bookie outlet.

Further it the article revealed that SLC had reported to BCCI pertaining to the matter but no action was taken by BCCI therefore, as a result the probe is being made by ICC’s ACSU on BCCI into the matter.

However, BCCI denied any such investigation and rubbished the report. As per report, Mr N Srinivas in a press conference on Sunday said that they happened to learn that several media outlets had been claiming that Sri Lanka cricket had submitted a report on the matter but action was not taken by the Board on those reports. Rejecting the claimed fact he said that no such report was submitted from SLC.

Mr N Srinivas further said that BCCI would like to clarify that they had not received any report on Suresh Raina on the matter from SLC and no probe was being done by ICC.

The BCCI Spokesperson and vice-President Mr Rajiv Shukla reportedly said that the Indian batsman Suresh Raina was with the lady with some purpose like signing papers and completing formalities and the lady was an agent of some Sri Lankan players.

I think Raina should be suspended until and unless claims proved to be baseless.
