Just two days after the winning of the World Cup, Master Blaster Sachin Tendulkar is to fly high as the Maharashtra Assembly on Tuesday April 5 recommended for the highest Civilian award ‘Bharat Ratna’ to the Central government and the Government backed the recommendation.
As per report of the sources, a motion recommending the Bharat Ratna for Sachin and felicitating the Indian team was moved in the state assembly by Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan and it was supported by almost all the political parties.
Besides this recommendation, Chavan also announced to award the two players from the state a cash reward of 10 million each to Tendulkar and Zaheer Khan. Also two members from team’s support staff will be awarded 5 million each for their support to the team and management.
Along with Chavan, leader of opposition Eknath Khadse also congratulated the team and described Sachin as ‘God of Cricket’.
The chances are looking good for the batting legend to grab the highest civilian award as the Congress appreciated the move of Maharashtra Assembly and backed their recommendation.
While speaking to media, Congress spokesperson told that Sachin Tendulkar served the nation with best class of cricket for more than two decades and if Maharashtra government make such a recommendation then he was confident that the central government will pay seriousness to the issue.
