After the failure of the ruling party to convince Bharatiya Janata Party to drop the plan of hoisting flag in Jammu and Kashmir on the occasion of Republic day, it is now ally of BJP namely Janata Dal (United) which came forward and pressed the Saffron Party to withdraw its plan asserting that issues related to Jammu and Kashmir were sensitive.
As per report of the sources, Bihar Chief minister and top JD (U) leader Nitish Kumar said that he did not support the Rashtriya Ekta Yatra to Kashmir valley and hoist flag at Lal Chowk in Srinagar on Wednesday.
He further said that this Yatra has no meaning in front of the tension that is presently prevailing in the state.
In New Delhi, JD (U) president Sharad Yadav renewed his appeal to the BJP not to go ahead with the flag hoisting plan. Mr. Yadav said that issues relating to Jammu and Kashmirs are sensitive and this should be kept in mind.
Mr. Yadav further clearly said that this was not the NDA’s programme but BJP’s.
However, BJP vowed to press ahead with plans to hoist flag in the heart of Srinagar. Earlier today, BJP leaders Arun Jaitley and Sushma Swaraj were barred from leaving the Jammu airport when they landed in Jammu by a special flight from New Delhi to take part in the party’s “Ekta Yatra” rally that culminates with unfurling the Indian tricolour.
