Sept 27 (FLS): After days of international criticism, CPI general secretary A B Bardhan alleged that the nation’s wealth has been looted in the organisation of the Games and urged that those who are involved in the loot of the wealth must be tried and punished.

Not only this, the leader showing his concern over the image of the country told that those who have brought the country amidst criticism because of their corrupt works and lowered the prestige of the country should not be let go easily.

Addressing the Press in the Netaji Indoor stadium, he told that less than a week is left in the commencement of the Games and the preparation is still marred by controversies over alleged over-expenditure, failed deadlines and poor infrastructure.

Bardhan also said that apart from stated Rs. 70,000 crores expenditure on the Games; there have been other hidden expenses that the ministry has not exposed as a result the expenditure have increased fourfold. Adding further he told that at least 50 to 60 percent of the expenditure of the bill have been looted and demanded that a probe must be conducted to make catch hold of the culprits.

Bardhan was adamant about taking this issue to the Parliament and told that it would be pursued seriously.

Lamenting about the condition of poor people in the country, he also complained that the government has money for the Games, but not for the poor which is being looted by various culprits instead of providing food to the poor.
