CVC to check corruption in Common Wealth Games 2010

With only two months left in the start of much awaited Common Wealth Games, startling facts regarding its poor preparation are hitting the country. CVC (Central Vigilance Commission) blemished the tender and project holder for their corrupt work in almost every sector of the project. All certificates scrutinized by CVC on project status and quality of work turned out to be fake and forged.

“It’s very disgusting. Putting country’s honour at stake for money is inglorious”, said an official.

CVC has claimed that fake certificates had been regularly issued despite of the substandard work in almost all areas. They are sure that contractors and vendors have made their handsome share with the tender holders.

Immediately after finding out the mal functioning in the CWG projects, CVC Chief Vigilance Commissioner Pratyush Sinha summoned a meeting with CBI and asked CBI to register case against the corrupt work and launch their immediate probe.

CVC declared the quality assurance agency as worthless as non of the recommended quality materials have been incorporated in the giant projects of worth Rs. 2,477 crore which can be broadly classified as construction of roads, pavements, road grade separators, street lighting, etc.It has also decided to look into the malign work of approving agency who were supposed to make monthly inspections and submit reports.

Greedy Common Wealth officials could not hide their ignominious work that involved failed concrete samples, inferior fittings, and even inferior anti-corrosion coating on reinforced steel. When the CVC team scrutinized the concrete sample from the already laid concrete at stadiums, its technical team found that it failed to meet the requirement of strength and the cement used was much less than the prescribed amount.

Had CVC’s probe not taken place, India’s embarrassment was for sure at the Common Wealth Games 2010.
