Popular Kannada actor and Karnataka cinema hero Dr. Vishnuvardhan died in mysore on 30th December 2009, due to Heart Attack. He was one of the popular actor after Dr. Rajkumar in Kannada movies and films. Kannada film industry lost another gem.
He was 59 years old.
He had developed breathing problems at about 0230 hours and he was immediately taken to a private hospital where he breathed his last, sources said.
According to hospital sources, he died at around 0300 hrs. His actress wife Bharathi and son-in-law Anirudh were by his side when the Kannada star died.
Sources said the body of the actor, who has acted in 197 films, has been brought here.
Expressing grief over the actor’s death, Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa said the star would be cremated with full state honours. He also visited the actor’s residence and placed a wreath on the body.
The Chief Minister, who is a film buff, described Vishnuvardhan as a towering personality of the Kannada film industry. “Vishnuvardhan, is a abhinava bhargava (born actor), Karnataka has become poor in his death”, he said, urging the actor’s fans to maintain calm and peace.
The actor’s wife Bharathi also made a similar appeal. Thousands of fans thronged the actor’s residence to have a glimpse of the body.
Ministers Katta Subramanya Naidu, R Ashok and Suresh Kumar and former Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy, also a film producer, paid tributes to the actor.
As a mark of respect to the actor, the state government declared a holiday in schools and colleges today.
Government offices, however, will function as usual.

Kannada actor Vishnuvardhan passes away at 59
Kannada film industry is having areally bad time. Only a day ago, C. Ashwath passed away and now Kannada’s superstar Vishnuvardhan suddenly passed away. Dr Vishnuvardhan one of the most well known and well reputed actor in Kannada film industry passed away on tuesday, 29th december. He suffered a massive cardiac arrest to which he succumbed. He was 59. He is survived by wife Bharati who is also a popular actress and two adopted daughters Keerthi and Chandana.
Dr. Vishnuvardhan was suffering from some health hazards had been to Mysore for rest and yesterday he was admitted to Vikram Hospital Mysore after he complained of chest pain. After the treatment, he was returned to his house in the evening. Again he suffered same pain at 2.30. He breathed his last while he was being rushed to the hospital.
Vishnuvardhan did his primary schooling in Mysore’s Gopalswamy School and his middle school in Bangalore’s Kannada Madari School. His High School and his degree in the National College, Basavanagudi, Bengaluru.
Vishnuvardhan is popularly regarded as one of the most versatile, talented, stylish and popular actors in the Kannada film industry. His role in romantic, action, emotional, music, comedy or family dramas have been widely popular. His real name is Sampath Kumar and he adopted the name Vishnuvardhan at the instance of Puttanna Kanagal who directed his maiden film Nagarahavu.

C Ashwath famous Kannada Singer: C Ashwath passes away
C Ashwath a famous singer and master of Kannada Sugam passed away on 29th december 2009. He was 70 years old. He was suffering from abdominal pain and he was admitted to Columbia Asia Hospital in Bangalore on 17th december. He was reportedly suffering from liver and kidney problems.
C Aswath is a very well known in Karnataka. He wad a master in Sangam Sangeetha. He not only mastered in classical music but he was a really popular musician both in films and theater. There are very few people who have achieved this feat like him.
He was born on December 29, 1939. He was graduated in Science from Bangalore University and later worked in Indian Telephone Industries for 27 years before retiring as an Executive Engineer in 1992. He started his musical career as a disciple of Devagiri Shankararao Joshi in Hindustani Music.
Ironically, 29th december also happened to be his birthday, he turned 70 on this day. A function was suppose to be held in Ravindra Kala Kshetra for this 70th birthday. All karnataka people will always remember him and pray that his soul rest in peace.
