In a major revelation, Forbes magazine has released the names of World’s most powerful person of the year 2011 today on 10th March. It is Chinese President Hu Jintao who has topped the list this year while Congress President Sonia Gandhi has been ranked 9th by the US magazine.
As per statement released by Forbes magazine, Jintao has topped the list because of his immense power that could divert rivers, build cities, jail dissidents and censor internet without discussing about it to any bureaucrats or office.
US President Barack Obama slipped to second position from last year’s first while King Abdullah of Saudi Arabia stands third in the list. It is Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin who sealed the fourth position followed by Pope Benedict XVI at fifth. German Chancellor and British Prime minister David Cameroon were given sixth and seventh spot respectively.
Among the Indians, Sonia Gandhi topped with 9th rank due to her influence over 1.2 billion population and her consecutive four time win has sealed her status of true heiress to the political dynasty set up up by Nehru-Gandhi.
Prime Minister Manmohan Singh bagged the 18th position for his great work of changing the quasi socialist Indian economy into world’s second fastest growing economy.
Reliance Industries CMD Mukesh Ambani and Industrialist Lakshmi Mittal are the other Indians who are ranked 34th and 44th respectively.
Interestingly, Osama Bin Laden has been also given 57th spot in the list and India’s most wanted Don Dawood Ibrahim has got 63rd spot.
