Renault race driver Robert Kubica received serious injuries after he suffered a high speed accident on Sunday while competing in the Ronde di Andora in Italy.

As per report of the sources, Kubica was air lifted to hospital with multiple fractures to his arm, leg and hand after a crash en route has been undergoing surgery at the Santa Corona Hospital in Pietra Ligure while his co-driver went unhurt.

Kubica, driving a Skoda Fabia, is believed to have hit a church wall and overturned. Though no medical information has been yet conveyed to media, it is believed that the 26 year old Pole has suffered fractures to his left leg and to his hand/wrist.

It means Kubica will be forced to miss this week’s Formula One test session at Jerez in Spain, and also puts him in doubt for the season-opening Bahrain Grand Prix next month.

The team finds itself in a situation whereby its second driver, Vitaly Petrov, has just one season of F1 experience behind him and, also, the biggest 2010 gulf between himself and his team mate on the F1 grid.
It is not the first time the Pole has been involved in a horror crash, after he hit a wall at 300kph during the Canadian Grand Prix in 2007. However, he was not so seriously injured that time.
Renault is expected to release more details on his condition later on Sunday.
