BJP President Nitin Gadkari rubbishing the charge of playing any politics over hoisting of flag in the heart of Jammu and Kashmir, Lal Chowk, Srinagar said that the detention of senior leaders of Bharatiya Janata Party was unfortunate.

Calling it as the duty of the citizen, Gadkari after hoisting the national flag at the party headquarters said that though some people might call this step of BJP as the action to do politics but it is worth thinking what politics one can play on the hoisting of the flag.

He further said that the Central government in other way were bowing to the pressure from the separatists.
While highlighting the detention of the senior BJP leaders –Sushma Swaraj, Arun Jaitley and Anant Kumar, he told that this act was unfortunate but he was still hopeful that some of the BJP party workers would have managed to unfurl the flag at Lal Chowk.

As per report of the sources, two party workers were arrested today while trying to enter Lal chowk which has been kept on high alert.

Meanwhile, former party president Rajnath Singh ended his hunger strike over the issue this morning after Mr. Gadkari requested him to do so.

While speaking to media, party spokesperson Nirmala Sitaraman said that the party has not been able to get in touch with the detained senior leaders till then.

Earlier yesterday, they were detained from Jammu airport while they tried to enter the city and participate in the Ekta Yatra.
