Ganesh Chaturthi 2010 to start from September 11

It’s time we start exchanging Ganesh Chaturthi greetings and sms as the celebrations are all set to start from September 11, 2010, in different parts of India.

Ganesh Chaturthi, also called Vinayaka Chaturthi is generally celebrated for 10 days when household install clay idols of the the Lord Ganesha, to celebrate the day when the Lord of wisdom, prosperity and good fortune was born.

Ganesh Chaturthi is celebrated in wide scale in many states in India, including Maharashtra, Gujarat, Goa, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh. The clay idols of the Lord is usually submerged in lack or rivers on the last day of the festival, known as the Anata Chaturthi.

Outside of India, Ganesh Chaturthi is also celebrated in Nepal and Tamil Hindus in Sri Lanka.
