The ICC Award nominations have finally hit the deck as the five-man selection panel has come forward with the lists on Thursday, August 19. However, the England sides are fuming for cold response of the panel towards them as none of them could manage a place for themselves in the list of 16.
It is the seventh Annual ICC cricketer of the year award which is scheduled to be held on 6th October 2010 in Bengaluru at a glistening ceremony. Out of 16 nominations Indian players managed to get three places in the list with Mahendra Singh Dhoni, Virendra Sehwag and Sachin Tendulkar in the category for the cricketer of the year award. Hashim Amla, Jacques Kallis, Shane Watson and Bollinger are also in race for these top ICC awards. In addition to this, nine players have been enlisted in two distinct categories.
The England team has remarked this nomination as utter disgrace and told that the panel has taken them coldly. They also said that Swann really deserved a position in the list as his current seasons were brilliant. Swann has ascended to number three position in ICC bowling ranking in Test cricket with 93 wickets altogether in his kitty.
The nomination has been declared on the ground of performance of the players in the International matches from August 24 last year.
Australian once again shines in the list with top players -Ricky Ponting, Michael Clarke, Ryan Harris and Mitchell Johnson joining the race with Bollinger and Shane Watson.
The five-man panel which decided the nomination is headed by Chairman of the ICC cricket committee Clive Lloyd and included international players Augus Fraser of England, Matthew Hayden of Australia, Ravi Shastri of India and Duncan Fletcher of Zimbabwe.
