Though India lost two early wickets, they were brought back into the match by steady inning by Gambhir and Tendulkar who shared 114 runs for the third wicket making Indian total reach 142 for the loss of two wickets by the end of the second day’s play at Newlands Cape town.

Earlier today, Kallis was the mainstay of the South African innings, making 161 before being last man out. Kallis batted superbly with tail enders Paul Harris and Lonwabo Tsotsobe, taking his score from 100 to 161 while the last two wickets added 79 runs.

Kallis led the attack from the South African side and launched a blistering attack on every Indian bowlers after lunch and helped his team post a challenging 262 which could prove out to be a very good total in the future course of the next few days.

Ashwell Prince gave a healthy stand with him by adding 47 runs.

Indian bowling got some help on the 2nd day as S Sreesanth completed a superb 5-wicket haul when he dismissed Morne Morkel for 8 with another swinging ball that took the thick edge of the tail ender’s bat through to Dhoni’s gloves. However, Zaheer managed to get 3.

Opener Virender Sehwag again disappointed his fans as he played an upper cut straight to the hands of Graeme Smith at short cover for 13 off Dale Steyn. Dravid also went in cheap as he was run out on the throw of de Villiers.

Well, the match from here looks balanced for both the sides.
