It was the day of the Indian pacers who shook the New Zealand’s batting line up and bundled them at the meagre score of 118 runs in just 30 overs who were up on the pitch to chase an average total of 224 runs set by the Indian team in the Do-or-Die match for the team to get the pass to the finals.

New Zealand were thrashed by Indian team by 105 runs in today’s match played at Rangiri Dambulla and entered into the finals of the series against Sri Lanka on Saturday.

Right from the beginning of the second session of the match, Indian bowlers with their invariable seam knocked the Kiwis wickets leading to their dismal start as they lost half of the team under 41 runs. The initial overs performance of the Kiwi batsmen were pathetic and there wickets were falling like autumn leaves.

Seamers Praveen Kumar and Munaf Patel, who was brought as a change in the team, claimed three wickets apiece. However, Ashish Nehra and Ravindra Jadeja got two and one wickets respectively in their kitty.

However, Kyle Mills at one moment made India toil as he brought his 50 with some dancing shots.

Earlier, Indian top order except Sehwag flopped once again and at a moment India was almost denied the match when it had lost four wickets on the mere score of 66.Dhoni and Sehwag steadied Indian inning and shared handsome runs with Sehwag getting his 13th ODI century. However, after Sehwag’s return to pavilion on 173 runs, the entire team collapsed on a mere total of 223 runs in 46.3 overs. Paceman Southee and Nathan McCullum grabbed four and three wickets respectively.

Sehwag was given ‘Man of the Match’ for his outstanding century and Dhoni in the presentation ceremony told that Indian batsmen require doing a lot of home work before finals.
