Once again captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni’s boys have failed to improve the batting performance in today’s Do-or-Die match Except Sehwag who with his stupendous 110 runs helped India recover from misery.
Despite of the brilliant inning played by the blaster Sehwag, Indian team could manage only 223 runs in the 6th ODI of the triangular series played against New Zealand. The youngsters again failed to improve their impression and India was at one stage struggling at the score of 66 for 4.
Electing to bat after winning the toss, India got poor start once again when Karthik got out on duck. All the youngsters-Kohli, Yuvraj, Raina and Karthik surrendered against Kiwis seamers in just 13 overs and brought India on the back foot in the early stage of the game. However, Sehwag stood firm on the other end and continued lashing Kiwi bowlers with his bat with 16 boundaries and a huge in his total of 110 which he got in just 93 balls.
It was Mahendra Singh Dhoni who controlled the Indian inning from falling apart and steadied India along with Sehwag after early jolts to the team. However, he was caught by Hopkins on the ball of Mc Cullum on the score of 38 leaving India struggling at the score of 199 for 6. Ravindra Jadeja also followed him to pavilion in the very next over.
The tail ender succumbed to the furious bowling attack of the Black Cats and Munaf Patel was the last man to depart signalling an end on India’s innings in just 46.3 overs.
Southee and McCullum bagged 4 and 3 wickets respectively. As per latest news, New Zealand lost their first wicket on 1 run in the first over itself on the bowling of Praveen Kumar.
