A fighter plane MIG-27 of the Indian Air-Force succumbed to ash on Saturday near Hashimara in West Bengal killing one person and injuring 25others, five of them are feared having serious and critical condition.
“The jet MIG-27 took off from Hashimara Air Base on a routine trip and crashed within minutes of takeoff”, reported an IAF (Indian Air Force) spokesperson.
According to reports, crash took place at around 10:30 am at Chorpakhi village which falls under Maynaguri Police Station’s jurisdiction in West Bengal’s Jalpaiguri district.
Unconfirmed sources said that the plane crashed over a field and dismantled 4 houses killing one person and injuring others. Three children and two women were severely injured and were rushed to the Mayanguri hospital.
Yet, no words have been heard from the pilot but seeing no dead body of him in the crashing area it can be assumed that he ejected himself out of the aircraft. He is yet to be traced as he parachuted into a forest area.
“The IAF has launched a search to trace the pilot”, the spokesperson said.
The reason of the plane crash is till now a mystery. Search teams have come to the spot and averted trespassing in the region. They are looking for the black box.
“We will look into the reasons for the crash because MIG-27 are one of the most secure aircraft .Crashing of such aircrafts in countryside killing people will not be tolerated”, said IAF officials admonishing his pilots.

Dear All
It is a very tragic incident. But it is a very pathetic response of Airforce people who have started blaiming pilot for it without even before the start of enquiry. We should remember it is the same kind of plane of which a few crash every year.It is the responsibilty of the Indian Government to get better planes and imediately scrap aging MIGs.
My heart goes with the family of the people of the village and with the the brave pilots who brave their lives for the sake of India’s security on these flying death machines.
