Development of VLSI and ULSI technology have paved the way to make the electronics world more concise & compact and its revolutionary effect can be clearly visualized when we take a look in the world electronic gadgets. Intel Corporation, the biggest semiconductor chip making company, has recently launched the Intel Solid-State Drive (Intel SSD) 310 Series, an ultra-small solid-state drive (SSD).

As per report of sources, Intel said that the newly launched SSD 310 series delivered the full performance that was provided by Intel X-25 but however, the new product was one-eighth in size with respect to Intel X-25. The source further added that the dimensions of new SSD chip were 51mm-by-30mm and was only 5mm thick.

While talking about the performance of chip the Intel claimed that the new SSD chip was faster than regular one and it added flexibility to innovative devices. While describing the impact of new SSD chip on electronic gadgets the report further said that the new SSD could enable responsive dual-drive notebooks, single-drive tablets and low-power, strong embedded industrial or military applications.

While talking about the additional impact the Intel claimed that the performance of PC could be improved by 60% by pairing the SSD chip with high capacity hard disk drive (HDD).

Reportedly, The Intel SSD 310 Series contains 34 nanometre (nm) Intel NAND flash memory and is available in an m-SATA form factor in 40 gigabyte (GB) and 80GB capacities.

The price tag of new product is $99 for 40 GB capacity and $179 for 80 GB capacity.
