With about 45 days left in the commencement of the most awaited Commonwealth Games 2010, the inspection time from the top officials seems dawning as the Commonwealth Games Federation President Michael Fennel has already landed in India on a two days visit to New Delhi who has already cleared his intention of his visit.
Fennel has told to the press that he is on a short visit to India to ensure the progress of the work. He also told that he would inspect all the venues of the game on Wednesday and meet the government officials to get an update on the progress of the security preparations for the 2010 mega event.
Fennel arrival has unnerved the Organizing Committee members, as there are some venues, which are still under construction, and surprisingly some of the venues still don’t have safety certificates, which is a matter of immense carelessness and delay.
It is likely guessed that CWG Federation Chief Executive, Mike Hooper, will accompany Fennell to inspect all the venues and they are likely to attend meetings with the government over security issues and the logistics that would be provided to the participating athletes both in the ground and the hotels.
Games poor preparation marred by the controversy of corruption has brought many participating countries in dilemma as they are worried about the security of their players as India has made strong negative image all over the world for its insurgents and terrorists attack round the clock.
Earlier on Monday, Organizing Committee official told to the Press that all the stadiums are in top- class shape and will be ready within a week.
The game is scheduled from 3rd-14th October 2010 in New Delhi.
