Bharatiya Janata Party has made its intention very clear that it is not going to come to rest until the latest controversial scam of 2G under the congress ministry is brought under the scanner by the Joint Parliamentary Committee.
As per report of the sources, BJP President Nitin Gadkari on Tuesday once again insisted the fact that the Central Government must constitute a Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) to probe the 2G spectrum scam. Moreover, he asked Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on him being ready to appear before the Parliament’s Public Accounts Committee (PAC).
Questioning on the integrity of the Central government, he also pointed that if Prime Minister is ready to face PAC then what the problem is in the formation of Joint Parliamentary Committee.
Further, he also informed the people that JPC will have features similar to PAC i.e. it will too have representatives from the ruling party and hence the demand of the formation of JPC should not be rejected.
Highlighting on broader perspective of JPC he said that PAC has some limitations as it is a Parliamentary Committee which will work on the basis of the CAG report but JPC has wider powers.
On Monday, the BJP accused Dr. Manmohan Singh, of being defensive, after he offered to appear before Parliament’s Public Accounts Committee (PAC) in connection with the 2G scam.
Sources have also reported that BJP has announced to hold rally against corruption on Wednesday and ahead of holding the rally, NDA also said on Tuesday evening that it will remain firm on demand for JPC probe.
Rubbishing the demand of opposition, Dr. Manmohan Singh said that it is wrong to suggest that the government does not want a JPC because it will have the power to summon him. He said: “I have nothing to hide.”
