Oct 11 (FLS): In a report sent to the President, governor H R Bhardwaj on Monday has reportedly recommended for the implementation of the President’s rule in the Karnataka state. As per report of the Times Now, the governor has asked for the necessary action in this regard.
Close sources from Raj Bhawan said that the governor has apprised the President about the incident that had happened during the business relating to confidence vote in the state assembly on Monday morning calling it unconstitutional.
Though crisis hit BJP government in Karnataka got it’s breathe back as it survived its toughest challenge on Monday it has been again dragged into crisis as Governor Bhardwaj recommended for President rule calling as unethical the disqualification of 16 rebel MLAs.
Earlier, the trust vote was won by BJP chief minister B S Yeddyurappa amidst commotion and chaos created by the 16 banned MLAs by the speaker of the Assembly. Among the 16 disqualified were 11 BJP MLAs and 5 independent MLAs who were disqualified under anti-defection act in response to the petition filed by Yeddyurappa.
The dissident MLAs broke windowpanes of the Assembly and assaulted marshals to barge into the building.
However, Governor called the disqualification and banning of MLAs illegal and asked the President to intervene into matter. The Governor had said that the government was in a win-win situation with outsiders inside the assembly and that the entire voting process was a farce.
Meanwhile, sources have reported that in response to the present crisis, the Union Cabinet is likely to meet later this evening in New Delhi.
