After just one peaceful day that is on the day of the commencement of the holy month of Ramadan, Kashmir began to burn again in the fury of clashes and protests. Today, thousands of angry people rushed into the streets blinded with rage as the police firing killed two people and injured at least eight others for defying the curfew in the disputed region.

Government forces fired at hundreds of anti-India protesters for defying a curfew in the Indian portion of Kashmir on Friday, killing a teenage student and injuring a few others. This latest violence is a part of the cycle of violence that has been continuing for over two months leaving 53 dead and many injured. Most of the death has been caused by the injuries given by the firing shot on the mob by the security personnel.

The killing came a day after the start of the Muslim fasting month of Ramadan and took the death toll from two months of violent protests in the Muslim-majority region to 52. The shooting occurred in Trehgam village, in Kupwara district, about 110 kilometers (68 miles) north of Kashmir’s summer capital Srinagar.

Police has given the pelting of stones on them as the reason for opening their firings on the mob leaving them injured. After the incident, a curfew was clamped on Trehgam and other parts of Kupwara district, the officer said.

Violent anti-India protests have brought Kashmir’s towns and cities to a standstill since a teenage student was killed by a police tear-gas shell on June 11 and has turned the picturesque scenario of Kashmir into inferno.
