Mumbai, Oct 28 (IBNS): Threatened with the prospect of having his passport being cancelled, suspended Indian Premier League (IPL) chief Lalit Modi’s has sent his response to the passport office citing a threat to his life as his reason for staying abroad, reports said on Thursday.
Modi had reportedly been sent a show cause notice by the regional passport officer in Mumbai and also had been pulled up by foreign secretary Nirupama Rao for not responding to corruption charges laid on him.
Saying that he has indeed replied to all summons by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) and is available for further questioning, Modi has taken on the passport office asking for what documents they relied upon while issuing the show cause notice, NDTV reported.
The passport row began after the ED had written to the external affairs ministry asking it to revoke Modi’s passport and alleging that that the former IPL chairman had persistently refused to face them.
