Oct 3 (FLS): Delhi metro has green signalled the metro line that will link to the main venue of the Commonwealth Games Jawaharlal Nehru stadium. The line will become functional 12 hours before the inauguration ceremony of the event on Sunday.
With the link to the venues getting functional from tomorrow, people who are going to the Jawaharlal Nehru stadium to watch the Games inauguration ceremony can use Delhi Metro’s-new Central Secretariat-Sarita Vihar line.
As per statement given by the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) spokesperson, the 15 km long section which will touch the Games Opening ceremony venue will be opened to public at 8:00 am as the inspection of the line has been completed by the Commissioner for Metro rail safety (CMRS) R. K Kardam.
However, the spokesperson told that before the start of the services, pilot trains will be run on the line with officers from the signalling, electrical, track and rolling stock wings to check the preparedness.
One of the official also said that the trains on the line will run at a frequency of two minutes and 40 seconds. It was further announced that from October 4, metro services on the line will be available between 6 a.m. and 11 p.m.
The inauguration ceremony of the mega event is scheduled to start at 7:00 pm.
Regarding the departure trains from the Stadium’s metro station, by 11:24 there will be the last train for passengers going towards Central Secretariat and 11:27 for the passengers towards Sarita Vihar.
Thus, every preparation for the Games is up to mark and the event is expected to hit the deck tomorrow evening in a mega style amidst Prince Charles and other foreign dignitaries.
