The beleaguered Adarsh Housing society in which some retired and serving officers are under probe for allegedly cornering flats which was meant for the widows and families of war heroes has been asked to submit its reply to the show cause notice issued to it by December 24 by the Environment Ministry.

In addition to this, the ministry also granted it the opportunity to present the case in person by December 28 before the ministry if it was willing to do so.

Under this show cause notice, as per norms of the Environment protection Act, the ministry seeks an explanation from the housing society for the discrepancies in the case and the reason for not demolishing its 31-storey building at Colaba in Mumbai for allegedly violating the Green law.

Moreover, as per report of the sources the Ministry has also accepted the company’s request for an inspection of the “originals of some letters/minutes and other documents referred to in the notice” issued to the housing society on December 20.

As per order of the Ministry, the society should not take more time than the given deadline for filing the reply.

Tainted society got the first show cause notice on 12th November and since then it has been given extension by the ministry. However, this seems to be the last deadline set for the society.
