Motorola Droid 2 Global launched, Price in India Rs 15K?

Motorola has reportedly released its new Android based smartphone Motorola Droid 2 Global. Although the sources could not be confirmed, it has been reported that the mobile is already available in India. The newly launched mobile handset is the other addition to the Motorola’s popular series Droid and the handset is reportedly incredibly advanced and attractive.

As per various blog posts hanging around, the newly released handset is equipped with several stunning features. Apart from having Android platform (Android 2.2 froyo), the handset is powered with TI OPAM (Operational Amplifier) 1.2 GHz microprocessor, which promises the fastest service among the smartphones of its generation.

Keyboard beneath the slider screen has added extra feature and beauty to the Motorola Droid 2 Global. The new handset is fitted with 3.7 inch capacitive touchscreen, which is capable to provide supportability up to 480 X 854 pixel resolution. Apart from providing supportability to high resolution the screen also provides swipe input, multitouch and touch sensitive controls.

The latest feat by Motorola is laced with fine quality of 5 MP camera with auto focus geo tagging, image stabilization and also the camera is capable of recording of high definition video (720p HD). Users don’t have to worry about the memory as the newly launched mobile handset has 8 GB inbuilt memory (highest inbuilt memory among the smatphones) and also the memory is expandable up to 32 GB by using microSD card.

The other addition features of the mobile handset are, it is fitted 3D graphic accelerator, 3G supportability, GPS with A-GPS connectivity and Google maps. The mobile has an eccentric feature of cancelling noises with dedicated mic.

Reportedly, the most attractive feature of the mobile is that it is most economic than other big brand Android smartphones as the mobile is reportedly available at just Rs 15,000! We could NOT however confirm the sources and we are still trying to dig more on the same.

  Hey,

  Just a few clarifications. The DROID 2 Global is a smartphone sold by Verizon in the US (CDMA), that also has a GSM-based SIM slot for International roaming.

  Just wondering about when, where and how this phone has been released in India. I’ve checked Motorola India’s website, and the flipkart.com website – no signs of the Droid 2 Global phone.

  Further, if such a phone is released in India (called the Milestone 2 or something) then wouldn’t be priced at Rs. 25,000/- or higher? Please let me know where this phone could be purchased in India for Rs. 15,000.

  I am living in Pune, India and I inquire almost to 10 stores for availability of the mentioned mobile but don’t find anywhere this mobile in mobile stores…
  so, Can anybody mentioned the city where this mobile available in store with detail of store.

  Hi,

  I have been waiting for the launch of Motorola Droid 2 ( Global Edition ) for quite some time now and have been Googling it quite often.

  Neither I can deny nor I can support that Motorola Droid 2 has been launched in India till there is any official confirmation.

  However as far as price is concerned I am damn sure that it cann’t be priced at 15,000 INR. According to me ( from taking cue of it price in US & UK ) it will be priced in range of 25,000 – 30,000.

  One more logic to conclude above price range is that the previous version of Andriod phones from Motorola launched in India viz. Milestone & Milestone XT720 are priced over 20,000. Motorola Droid 2 is running on Froyo and have many updated features so it will come with a price tag for sure.

  P.S: As per Univercell the approximate price in India will be around 30,000.

  i want to buy a phone by the end of jan,2011.i’m looking forward to motorola droid series.i’ve been enquiring about this phone from everybody in my locality but they don’t even know that the model exists ! plz disclose the availability and price related topics on site.looking forward to ur reply…

  Hi,

  This model is still not launced in India however it well be on its way down to India and other Asian countries.

  This is just a rumour atleast for now.
