Oct 23 (FLS): It was a dreadful moment when a shocking mishap occurred at Mumbai airport. On Saturday early morning a minor collision took place between Jet Airways and Kingfisher Airlines. Reportedly no casualties occurred on either side. All passengers of the aircraft were safely taken off the aircraft and escorted to the terminal.
The mishap occurred around 2:00am when Jet’s Mumbai-Muscat aircraft (flight 9W540) was about to take off the airport. While Jet’s aircraft was being pushed back for taking off from the bay no. 85, the aircraft’s wing tip clashed against the tail of Kingfisher’s aircraft parked in the adjacent bay no. 84. The touch was slight and it was a “minor collision” said an official of the Mumbai airport. The official also added there were no casualties occurred but “how serious the aircraft were damaged?” was not known.
After the incident, both the planes have now been grounded.
It has also has been reported that the matter has been taken seriously and a thorough probe has been ordered into the matter, the aircraft and the grounded authorities will be investigated thoroughly.
Both the Airways have issued their statements saying that a thorough probe will be done into the matter and extent of damage will be evaluated. Jet airways regrets the inconvenience caused to its passengers.
“Meanwhile, damaged aircrafts maintenance is being done by an engineering team which is carrying out the maintenance work on engine. The matter has been reported to DGCA and is being investigated by them” added the spokesperson.
