Two militants with the motive of disrupting the festive mood of India are on hunt in Mumbai by the police on Friday, a day before Eid is going to be celebrated nationwide, as they are suspected to hit Mumbai with terrorist activities.
With the aim of spreading terror, two foreign nationals planning to cause disruptions at the religious congregations and crowded places have reportedly crept into Mumbai but the Intelligence have tracked the suspects information and Mumbai has been put on high alert.
The two militants are identified as Kalimuddin Khan (28) and Hafij Sarif (25), which was revealed by the police at a hurriedly called news conference. Police has issued an advisory to the people to remain alert and vigilant especially in the crowded places.
According to Home Ministry sources, one of them was a Pakistani with suspected links with the Lashkar-e-Toiba; the second one was from Bangladesh with suspected Harkat-ul-Jihad-al-Islami (HuJi) links.
The Mumbai city is in the midst of two festivals including Eid and Ganesh Chaturthi, involving Muslim and Hindu religions and it seems that the militants in the city are sneaking around to spoil this festive mood and bring the two religions against each other.
Photographs of the suspected gunmen has been distributed all over the city and the police has also set up help lines asking people to report in case the duo is sighted by them.
Joint Commissioner of the police said that to track the suspected militants several teams have been formed and he also asked people not to panic as he ensured that the situation was going to be under control soon.
