The sudden eruption of the naxals in Bihar state after being in a dormant state for a while has brought heat in the atmosphere of Bihar and the state government has demanded the centre nearly 4000 additional paramilitary to assist the state police to fight the recent deadly Maoists upsurge.
As per report, the state government requested for 40 companies, each having around 100 personnel which is being examined by the Home ministry and the decision on the request is likely to be out soon.
The situation has turned worse between the government and the Maoists at present as the Maoists killed one of the five abducted police officials, havildar Lucas Tete, who was kidnapped after an encounter in Lakhisarai district.
The Maoists had kidnapped sub-inspectors Rupesh Kumar and Abhay Prasad Yadav, BMP havildar Ehtesham Khan and Lucas Tete after the encounter in which six Bihar Military Police personnel, officer-in-charge of Kawaiya police outpost Bhulan Yadav and a policeman were killed in the gunfight.
After recovering the dead body of havildar in Lakhisarai, security has been further tightened around the official residence of Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar in Patna. All routes leading to the Chief Minister’s residence have been sealed and patrolling intensified in the security zone area, a top state official said.
The centre is ready to help the state government by all means and told that it is providing “full support” to Bihar government in the operation to rescue policemen held hostages by Maoists.
Sources said a comprehensive plan is being worked out to launch a joint operation along the Bihar-Jharkhand border to flush out militants hiding there.
