NDFB triggers blast on Assam rail track

Guwahati, Oct 15 (IBNS) : Suspected National Democratic Front of Bodoland (NDFB) ultras blasted a powerful improvised explosive device (IED) on railway tracks, while security forces recovered a cylinder bomb from the same site in Assam’s Kokrajhar district on Thursday night, the police said.

The IED exploded on the railway tracks at Singimari near Salakati station in the district around 9:40 pm on Thursday, damaging some portions of the tracks.

“After the blast, all local trains were cancelled and goods trains on the route have been stopped,” said spokesperson of Northeast Frontier Railway S Hajong.

The police also recovered a powerful cylinder bomb near the blast site.

“When we heared the sound of blast, rushed to the site and also found a powerful cylinder bomb weighing 35 kgs,” a senior police official said.
