Nepalese President Ram Baran Yadav today on 27th January arrived on a 10 day visit to India to improve the bilateral relation between the two countries.
Dr. Baran reached Kolkata this evening and was immediately taken to hotel for his stay in the city. As per report of the official sources, he would tomorrow visit the famous Kali temple at Kali ghat, attend the foundation day programme of the177-year-old Calcutta Medical College and Hospital, Victoria Memorial and dine with West Bengal governor M K Narayanan.
Moreover, on January 29, Yadav will be visiting Santiniketan and go around different complexes of Visva Bharati University, founded by Rabindranath Tagore.
As per sources, Mr. President will be leaving for Tirupathi on January 30 before reaching Delhi.
During his stay in Delhi from January 31- February 3, his engagements include a meeting with Hon’ble President of India, who will host a banquet in honour of the visiting dignitary. He will also meet Vice President M. Hamid Ansari and Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, External Affairs Minister S.M Krishna, Home Minister P. Chidambaram, Defence Minister A K Antony, Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Sushma Swaraj and Congress President Sonia Gandhi.
The President of Nepal will later visit Chandigarh to participate in the XXXI Convocation ceremony of the Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER) as its Chief Guest on February 4. He completed his MD in General Medicine from PGIMER in 1985.
The visit is likely to provide an opportunity to exchange views and discuss on issues of mutual interest and strengthening of bilateral relationship between the two countries.
