Although, Tata Nano, a small car which became pretty popular because of its affordable price to even middle class people could not maintain its credibility because of some issues concerning safety and increase in price. The new scheme to launch the Tata Nano with diesel engine seems to attract buyers.
As per report of the sources, Tata Motors, spokesperson refused the comment that the diesel engine version of the equivalent petrol engine would be priced at Rs 1.8-2.2 lakh. The sources further informed that the diesel engine Nano would be the smallest and cheapest in the market.
While describing the performance the source further added that the new diesel version Nano would be powered with 1000-cc engine and the output performance would be 20-30% better than usual diesel engine.
Reportedly, the Nano will be powered with the world’s smallest turbo system which has been developed by Honeywell and Nano will be also fitted with smallest common rail director injection system (CRDi) which has been developed by Bosch. The report further added that AVL, FEV and Recardo were the other partners in the project.
The diesel version Nano was to be launched just after the petrol version Nano but it got delayed because of Singur dispute.
It has been expected that Tata Nano will be the strong rival to other brands like Suzuki and Honda in the field of diesel engine because of its affordable price.
