Obama visit to India: Mumbai security tightens

Nov 6 (FLS): Mumbai is ready to welcome the American President Barack Obama. The Airforce One is expected to land at Mumbai airport at 12:50 pm. American President Barack Obama and the American first lady Mrs Michele Obama two days Mumbai visit starts today (from 6 November).

A massive three dimensional security in air, land and water have been deployed in place. Nearly 5000 security personals, including US security men, Indian Intelligent elite officials and highly trend commandos have been arranged to take position in South Mumbai alone as Mr Obama is scheduled to stay at the Taj.

Apart from commandos around 300 English speaking policemen have been selected and assigned duty to be confined in Taj until Mr. Obama’s farewell. These 300 highly trained are especially selected and placed inside Taj for inner protection of US President during his stay at Taj. The officers holding ranks of sub inspector, assistant sub inspector, inspector, senior inspector and assistant commissioner of police have been selected for the assignment.

Speaking to the media persons Rajkumar Vatkar, Deputy Police Commissioner (Operation) said that the security system was in place took their positions today. He further added that till Mr Obama left, policemen would follow the instructions ordered to them.

Reportedly, Obama will head for the Taj Hotel soon after landing, where he will meet the survivors of 26/11 terror attack. During his diplomatic trip Mr Obama is also considering to visit cultural sites, including a museum in a home where Mahatma Gandhi once lived.
