Mumbai, Nov 16 (IBNS) Mumbai Police has arrested one person in connection to the killing of RTI activist Amit Jethwa in July, said reports on Tuesday.

Earlier, on Sept 7, Shiva Solanki, a nephew of an MP of Gujarat’s ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), was arrested by the crime branch of Ahmedabad for his alleged role in Jethwa’s murder.

The police had confirmed that powerful BJP MP Dinu Solanki’s nephew was arrested from Rajkot when he was about to board a flight to Mumbai on Sept 7 morning.

Jethwa, a Right to Information (RTI) activist who was fighting illegal mining in the Gir Sanctuary area, was shot dead in July in Ahmedabad near the Gujarat High Court.

The green crusader had drawn the ire of the politicians of the Saurashtra region for his crusade against illegal mining.
