An International Cricket Council on Saturday declared that that three Pakistan players namely- former captain Salman Butt, pace bowler Mohammed Asif and young pace bowler Mohammed Amir, who were alleged for spot fixing event in August last year were guilty and announced five year ban on them from the sport.
As per report of the sources, the ICC tribunal found the trio guilty of the spot fixing event against England by arranging for the delivery of deliberate no-balls in the fourth Test played at Lords. The tribunal on Saturday also gave these players 21 days to appeal to sport’s highest body, the Court of Arbitration for Sport in Switzerland.

However, PCB calls itself out of the league and says that it will not appeal against the 5 year bans imposed on three Pakistan players. PCB chairman Ijaz Butt said that the board has no jurisdiction to challenge the bans on these three players because this matter was directly between the players and the ICC tribunal. At this response of PCB, Former ICC president Ehsan Mani criticised the PCB for its handling of the issue.

The tribunal found that Asif agreed to bowl and did bowl a deliberate no-ball in the Lord’s test match played between Pakistan and England from 26 to 29 August 2010, Amir agreed to bowl and did bowl two deliberate no-balls in the same test, and Butt was party to the bowling of those deliberate no balls, were proved.
Sources have reported that the players were mobbed by dozens of supporters when they walked out of the tribunal after the verdict was announced, the fans chanting slogans in support of them.
