Pakistan has been flushed by monsoon rain claimed to be the worst in Pakistan in eight decades as told by UN on Saturday. Nearly, 800 people have perished and around millions have become homeless and stranded. Some of the people who were rescued have been infected and are showing signs of fever, diarrhoea and other water borne diseases.

Pakistan has been flooded by record-breaking rainfalls  especially in the northwest province and around 800 people have died alone in the northwest province only as told by the Information Minister for Pakistan’s northwest province. He also told that many people residing in the region are missing.

“People are sitting on their roofs in hopes of air and boat rescue. They are in very bad conditions. They are devoid of food and water”, said a rescue worker in the area.

Other parts of Pakistan like Punjab province and Pakistan–occupied Kashmir have also underwent this disaster with death tolling about 50 in Punjab and 30 in the latter.

All flood defences have been breached by the torrential rains and many rivers have bursted their banks dislodging plenty of water in the surrounding areas thus flooding them. Provincial capital Peshawar has been cut off for almost three days now.

With more rainfall to be lashed, an emergency in the areas nearby affected areas have been declared. Places like Dera Ghazi Khan, Bhakkar, Muzaffarghar and Rajanpur are expected to be affected soon if the rain continues to unleash its terror.

At this distress of the people, government has involved many rescue teams. However, many are feared to be suffering from water borne diseases.

Along with people many roads and bridges have been washed by rain water and thus creating problem in rescue work.
