Pakistan flood disaster hits record: Rich countries not generous

The flood stricken Pakistan is facing very challenging time as the natural disaster has affected more people than the Asian tsunami and Haiti and Kashmir earthquakes put together. The death toll is about to reach to a record breaking number.

Despite of this critical condition of Pakistan it can be seen that rich countries are not showing their generosity to the extent to which they should have shown. The international response to this disaster is reported to be pitiful.

One of the aid worker, Rebecca Wynn of the Oxford based charity firm, Oxfam, who had been trying to starve off the threat of cholera and other water borne diseases in the affected zone. She told in a very disappointing way that things back in Pakistan were pathetic and the disaster was not taking a halt even for a moment.

She told that initially after the flood struck the situation was quiet under control with about 2 million people affected. However, the situation deteriorated with every passing moment and enormous number of people slowly and steadily became the part of this misery.

It was the torrential rainfall that has made the situation worse and the point that makes the government worry is this that the monsoon rain in Pakistan is predicted to continue till the end of the September. Officially 2000 people have been declared dead and 20 millions people have been affected with likely more to be affected in coming days.

Rebecca also taunted that ‘”The rich country governments haven’t been so generous and they sort of need to raise their games’. She has urged the nation by saying that ‘we can help to make an unbearable situation just a little bit more bearable to them’.

The rich people in Pakistan who enjoys luxury houses and cars should be immediatly asked to pay a fix amoud for the poor and needy people affected by the recent flood in Pakistan. Most of the rich people made their furtune from the public funds any way and multiply it due to their position and influance after being elected by these poor voters. Who ever run the government in Pakistan should impose this compulsary flood tax to the rich people with out any further delay.
