Kolkata, Jan 10 (IBNS) Responding to Union Home minister P Chidambaram’s immediate summon to New Delhi following the Lalgarh firing incident, West Bengal Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee on Monday said he will be able to make it to the national capital only in the third week of this month.

A release from the chief minister’s office said that Bhattacharjee, in response to Chidambaram’s letter, has informed the Union minister that his visit to New Delhi will be possible in the third week of the current month.

Chidambaram had written to Bhattacharjee on January 7, the day of the Lalgarh incident, to immediately come to New Delhi to discuss the situation.

At least eight villagers, including two women, were killed and 18 injured in West Bengal’s volatile Lalgarh area on Friday (January 7) in a firing blamed on the armed cadres of the ruling communists by the Opposition, evoking outrage and condemnation by various groups.
