Photon Plus Review & Network Coverage Quality

Photon Plus Review,  from network coverage quality to internet Speed: I have taken a Tata Photon Plus EVDO card last month and here is my review on the network quality, actual speed and the customer service. Actually, I have been wanting to write a review but I thought I should wait for at least a month.

But first, before you read any further, I would suggest you to read an article about my experience with Tata Photon Plus customer service. Yes, their customer service s*cks and I really wish they prove me wrong.

Now let us talk about the network quality and actual internet speed. As per my experience in JP Nagar Bangalore, the quality of Tata Indicom Network coverage is good over here. The dialer that comes with the Photon Plus connects very quickly and the network is set up almost instantly every time. First time when I saw that, I thought “WOW” and I was really excited about surfing the internet with a 2Mbps connection. But of course that remained only a dream. The Photon plus gave me an average speed of about 25KB/sec download. That is roughly about 256Kbps internet speed I am getting and not the 2Mbps that the Tata Indicom is advertising on every single road-side banner space these days. So I called up their customer service and asked what was happening and I was told that the speed depends on the Tata EVDO network which they are currently optimizing. The next I did was took the Photon Plus to Jayanagar 4th Block and tried it there in a friend’s house. There also same thing. We got a speed of about about 20-25KB/Sec download.

So the best way to check the actual performance of a Tata Photon Plus is to call their customer service and ask them to send an executive with a photon plus demo kit. Let them come to your house and give you a SPEED DEMO. If the Tata EVDO coverage is good, the speed will be good and you can buy the device. Otherwise it’s your choice. I am saying this because I have heard some people saying that they are getting good speed with the Photon Plus and maybe that is true in some regions since the speed completely depends on the network coverage. So, better test it before buying, afterall it’s your money.

  hello all,

  i also have bought a tata photon device and i reside in sant nagar burari, the speed that i have got till now, is only 25kbps max, and trust me when i say this, my airtel gprs gives me this much, i spoke with the customer care, they tried a few bits from there end, but i dont see any improvemenets.so guys be care ful what you pay for..

  photon customer serveice is not at all good i didn’t receive my photn bag about which i complained so many times to the nodal officer even no responce still……. i felt bad

  hi friends one more thing i want to share is dont get cheated by sales persons i got cheated by one of executive who told me that i can get all my device cost (2500) back after three months of photon usage but lately i knowed i lost my money., i complained about this to photon people but no reaction so beware of people like thiss………….

  I have been using Tata Phonton+ since 1 month. It is worst Internet Data connection i have used ever. There customer care is also worst like anything I am not getting the speed what i pay for.when i call to customer care for getting less speed thy ask me that at least you are getting 256 KBP minnimum . When i said that i’m psying for the minimum at least we should get more than what we pay for 256 KBP we can get in BSNL to . they are just piece of shit Tata photon just ripping off the money. taking 800 rupees a month and not giving at least 1 mbps really pathetic. they have trained very well to there customer care representative to make people fool but not to help customer, please guys do not buy this service . they

  hello friends. recently one of my friend purchased tata photon plus costing 1800/- when we purchased the Modem the reatiler told you will be getting only 1 GB usage and there is no FRC (first recharge) as such, when we talk to customer care regarding that, they told that after FRC you will be bundeled with 4GB additional for usage. that means a total of (1 GB+ 4 GB). when i told the retailer to talk to customer care, they all were stunned and said sorry for the cheating. we complained about that. then th matter got solved .

  hi Guys

  I am using tata photon + from almost 6 months … they are saying 3 mbps speed … just fake … i am getting 10kbps .. i am using it in pune central area … this is the worst service … i am totally unsatisfied …. dont go for it …

  Hi, I have purchased a photon plus on 24-02-11. It got activated on 28-02-11. My photon No is 9207033515 I have read thousands of reviews on tata photon plus and then decided to purchase it. But those reviews came meaningless to me because I was made a FOOL by those tata agents. They promise you 3.1 Mbps, but m getting a maximum speed of F**K 4 KBps. I can surely say that if U take a super fast laptop with Photon+ under their tower and take speed test for 24hrs then also U will not get downloading speed more than 50 KBps. So it is my earnest request to all my friends that pls pls pls never ever buy such product. . . . in your life. Otherwise U will find Ur self writing like me to suggest others that not to buy Tata Photon. . . . They are just CHEATERS. They came into the market to earn by cheating. . . . . . . . . . .If any one person changes his mood of Photon+ after reading all these I would say my money did not wasted.

  I have been using tata photon plus since 5 months in Bangalore (mahalakshmi layout).. first two months it was ok with speed of 300 kb/sec (promised was 3.1 MB/Sec), but now it is pathetic with 10 to 50 kb/sec speed.. forget abt downloading.. i cant even log in to gmail with this speed..my acc no is 9243530204. my suggestion is never ever go for tata photon…i wrote the same to them. didn’t receive any reply yet..planning to scrap the connection…

  Hi All

  Please do not buy the Tata photon+ device. I am using this from last 02 months & veru iritated. Whein I have purchase this, they told me that speed will be 2mbps but now, only 256 kbps is coming.

  Hi All ,

  Im using tata photon unlimited 5GB plan (3MBPS) , But I have never got speed more than .05 MBPS. When I cal to the customer care their is no proper solution provided by them.
  Actually they want to sell their product not the band width.

  I had a very bad experience with TATA PHOTON PLUS service. We had contacted the customer care service several times to withdraw our service and each person on the desk had a different thing to say about the procedure. So in the process we had to pay for three months without using the data card. However, the worst was still to come. We had surrendered the data card in Feb end but got a call from customer care that we still have to pay for the month of March. They are even unwilling to accept the reciepts signed by their people at the HUB. We are now considering the consumer forum if things get worse. With my experience of talking to several of their customer service people and people at their HUBS when I was back in India in Feb I may conclude that they are completely inefficient and has zero knowledge about their products or they are extremely dishonest.

  Beware of tata photon bills before buying it
  taking a tata photon is only a loss first they will give u discount and then they will give u double bill amount which u have to pay tata photon is just a useless thing they r just making fool of us by giving offers once u buy it they will charge from u by increasing ur bill and they dont listen anything u have to pay them it

  I m facing problem i started tata photon with unlimited bill 950 then i felt i dont need this much I changed the plan of 500+tax with 200 rs discount . even after taking this plan and i have not used much i m getting bill more than my unlimited uses bills
  I requested them please close my connection they gave a lil bit wave off and i paid I requested to give uses detail on my mobile they said they will but after 10 days no action then again I lodge a complain then I got a call if problem will not be solved in 2days they will give me 25 rs every day till date I m not getting any sms today I got sms of my bill of 1177 again I called up at customer care they are making excuses when some1 have committed me on phone they will give me 25 rs everyday then why this bill I m allready upset with excess bills because I m not using this much .
