'Price of essential commodities must be kept at affordable level' says Sonia

The congress chairperson Sonia Gandhi has recently urged the government to keep the price of essential commodities at affordable level at the 83rd Plenary Session of Congress Party.Reportedly, while addressing the inaugural Plenary Session she said that prices of essential commodities must always have been kept at the affordable level and inflation kept in check.

While talking about the strategies and steps taken by Prime Minister Mr. Manmohan Singh she said that Mr Singh had maneuvered
the Indian economy on the high growth path when country was facing crucial challenges.

While talking about the inflation she said that as they were moving on the path of growth they would have to face crucial challenges and however, the government was concerned with the challenges and was working hard to deal with those challenges.
She further added that inflation was declined to 7.48 percent in November which was hovering in two digits (above 10 percent) during the six month till July and it was in the range of 20 percent last year.

Speaking about the economic growth of India she said that it was the economic growth that enabled India to fund its social welfare programmes and schemes. She further added that Indian economy managed to attain 9 percent of growth when the entire world was crippling in the global meltdown.

Apart from economy she also talked about environment, she told that it was imperative to protect forests and biodiversity.
