In a dramatic jail break, two convicts and an undertrial escaped from a prison in Goa by drilling a passage through the cell toilet on Wednesday early day break hours.
The jail officers said in a media report that the three prison inmates named Abhijit Patil, Hitler Fernandes and Seby Ferrao escaped from the Sada sub jail at Vasco which is located about 35 km from Panaji, the capital city of Goa.
Levinson Martins, sub-divisional magistrate in charge of the Sada prison affairs said “The jailbreak must have happened after 3 am. They escaped by drilling a hole in their cell toilet”.
He further said Fernandes, was declared guilty for two murders in Goa and Karnataka. Surprisingly another news to be heard was that he was one of the convicts who was recommended to be released by the prisoner sentence review committee.
“Hitler and Seby have a previous history of jail breaks”, he said.
Digambar Kamat, a long-term senior politician and Chief Minister of Goa informed the Goa legislative assembly that a magisterial enquiry has also been initiated to probe the incident.
