The latest collaboration of Lotus Renault revealed its ride for the 2011 F1 season today at the Valencia circuit ahead of the three day test which will begin this Tuesday. Renault, who will trade as Lotus Renault GP this season, presented the R31 in the pit lane of the Valencia track alongside race drivers Robert Kubica and Vitaly Petrov.

Renault aim to move up from fifth place in 2010 to challenge the top four, Red Bull, McLaren, Ferrari and Mercedes. At the same time, Sauber aim to score regular points and improve on the eighth place overall.

Sauber are continuing with Japanese rising star Kamui Kobayashi, who impressed with some stirring drives and dramatic overtaking moves in 2010.

Confident team chairman Gerard Lopez with an impressive return to form with R30 last year said that he was confident that the team can hit its target of improving in both the drivers’ and constructors’ championship.

While speaking to media, team principal Eric Boullier proclaimed that R31 was notably different in design from last year’s R30 as the new machine featured more than 92 percent new parts compared to its predecessors.

The R31 features a new suspension layout on the rear end as part of a raft of changes compared to the R30; with technical director James Allison insisting it was difficult to compare the two cars.

World champions Red Bull and Mercedes will both launch their 2011 challengers on Tuesday.
