The case of Kaushik accusation, ex-coach of Indian Woman Hockey, over sexual harassment took an interesting turn on Saturday when an enquiry committee set up to conduct initial probe came with its report after listening to both Ranjitha Devi, the victim player, and M K Kaushik, accused coach.
Narendra Batra, general secretary Hockey India said that complain letter submitted by Ranjitha is plausible as it has enough specific instances and occasions to put an initial probe on M K Kaushik.
Earlier, Kaushik pleaded for his innocence after he was accused by the hockey player Ranjitha for sexual harassment and using vulgar language during a recent Canada and China tour. He criticized on her performance and showed it as her blatant attempt to tarnish his 20 years long career image.
Not only the coach, the videographer Bhasavraj and former manager of the women’s team, Anurita Saini are also having significant role in this malicious act. Hockey India had earlier received an anonymous mail with photographs of team videographer Basavraj with sex workers during the foreign tour. Meanwhile, Amrita Saini is also alleged to have had an affair with Kaushik. Players have been reportedly threatened by her to be sued if anyhow her name came into this controversy.
Following the complaint, hockey India set up a five member enquiry committee to look into the matter and accepted the resignation of Kaushik.
“I think it will be difficult for kaushik and Basavraj to avail their service back as their motives were abysmal”, said a HI official
Hockey India has asked the Delhi police to probe the charges of sexual harassment. The case needs action under provisions of the Indian Penal Code, Batra said.
Suresh Kalmadi, president of Indian Olympic Committee, was speechless on this debacle and chose not to speak when approached by the reporters.
