The loss of World cup final by the Sri Lankan team has led to the series of resignation in the team as just a day after the captain Sangakkara put in his papers, other members like vice captain Mahela Jayawardene and head of national selection committee Aravinda de Silva resigned from their post on Wednesday.
As per report of the sources, Mahela resigned from his post because he had taken the duty of vice captaincy only till the end of the World Cup.
Another big wicket that fell for Sri Lanka is of the head of national selection committee, former cricketer Aravinda de Silva, who told in a statement that this decision was taken for the betterment for the Sri Lankan team due to important assignments coming later this season.
He also told that he wanted to step down because the other team selected should have sufficient time to make both the short and long term plans so as to work for the future of the cricket in Sri Lanka.
Along with these big men, the coach of the Sri Lankan team Trevor Bayliss is likely to be replaced with someone else as his tenure of service is about to expire.
Earlier, Sangakkara told media that this decision of resigning as taken by him three weeks before the commencement of World Cup. He further told that post world cup period was appropriate for bringing certain changes in the team and positions.
Though Sri Lanka is a very talented cricket playing nations, its present condition is very uncertain.
