Rishad Premji appointed as Chief Strategy Officer of Wipro

Rishad Premji, the Harvard graduate and the older of the two sons of Wipro founder and Chairman, Azim Premji has been appointed as Chief Strategy Officer of Wipro’s IT business.

At present, Rishad Premji takes care of the company’s treasury and investor relations.

Rishad’s role as Wipro’s Chief Strategy Officer came into preponed effect on September 1st instead of scheduled January 2011. He will work with KR Lakshminarayana who has also been appointed as the Chief Endowment Officer of the trust set up to fund the Azim Premji’s philanthropic activities in 2011.

K R presently takes care of strategy as well as mergers and acquisitions for the IT business.

Sridhar Srinivasan, Vice President at Wipro Technologies is now taken as Interim head of mergers and acquisitions.

Rishad selected into his new post will hereafter take care of the Wipro Technologies and Wipro Infotech which is considered as the global and Indian IT arms of Wipro. He had joined Wipro earlier in 2007 for the post of Business Manager looking after Wipro’s banking and financial business, later in 2009 became the General Manager of treasury and investor relations.

As per company’s statement now after being the Chief Strategy officer, Rishad Premji will report to Suresh Vaswani and Girish Paranjpe who are joint chief executives of Wipro Technologies.
