Goddess Saraswati is a Hindu Goddess of Knowledge. Saraswati Puja is celebrated every year on the fifth day of the Indian month Magh, the first day of spring. This year 2010, the puja will be celebrated is on Wednesday, the 20th of January.
Goddess Saraswati is the goddess of arts, crafts and education. So, on this day, youngsters and even families pray to the goddess to bless them with knowledge and success in education, arts and crafts.
Saraswati Puja is celebrated in all parts of India and mainly in West Bengal, Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Andhra Pradesh. It is celebrated as Basant Punjami OR Vasanat Punjami in many states of India.
